HHS Speech & Debate Team enjoying successful season
It's been a busy and successful year for the Hampton High School Speech & Debate Team!
HTSD congratulates the following students who qualified and were selected to compete in the 2024 PA High School Speech League State Championships held on March 15 and 16 in Bloomsburg:
- David Poirier - Senate Congressional Debate
- William Zhang - House Congressional Debate
- Thi Malesky - Poetry Interpretation
- Andrew Kaehly - Impromptu Speaking
- Sonia Troiana and Vivian Sattler - News Broadcasting
- Leo Stadt - Extemporaneous Debate
- Rin Suyama - Commentary
- Drew Girard - Extemporaneous Speaking
Freshman William Zhang advanced to the Super Session of House Congress and placed an impressive 9th overall in the tournament. Senior Andrew Kaehly also achieved outstanding results, making the final round for the second year in a row and placing 5th overall in Impromptu Speaking.
On Saturday, March 23, the team will compete in the Pittsburgh NSDA Congress qualifier at Seton LaSalle High School for a chance to compete at Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa this June.
Additionally, on March 2, senior David Poirier secured an alternate spot for the NCFL National Tournament in Chicago with his performance in Senate Congress.
