Gifted Education & Enrichment

Chapter 16- Services for High-End Learners

In Pennsylvania, the provision of services to identified gifted students is governed by Chapter 16 of the Pennsylvania school code. To receive Chapter 16 services, students must meet eligibility requirements, including being identified with mental giftedness as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and needing specially designed instruction. Hampton Township teachers and staff are committed to meeting the needs of all learners by providing a challenging, stimulating environment that encourages students to grow and develop their academic, intellectual, and creative skills.

At Hampton Township, ALL academic resources are available to all students, whether identified as gifted or not, who demonstrate a need for differentiated instruction to reach their potential.

Hampton Township School-Wide Enrichment Model
Hampton Township School District is proud to offer a unique and innovative approach to student enrichment that is accessible to every learner. Grounded in the principles of the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) developed by Dr. Joseph Renzulli, our program ensures that all students have the opportunity to explore their interests, develop their talents, and achieve their highest potential. By integrating these principles with Pennsylvania’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), we create a dynamic environment where enrichment is a cornerstone of education for all.

A Schoolwide Commitment to Enrichment:
At Hampton Township, we believe that gifted behaviors can emerge in any student when the right opportunities are provided. Our inclusive enrichment philosophy offers a broad range of experiences designed to ignite passion and foster creativity in all learners. We don’t wait for students to be identified as gifted; instead, we provide a rich educational environment that allows giftedness to flourish naturally.

Three Tiers of Enrichment Services:
Our enrichment model is organized into three tiers, ensuring that every student receives the appropriate level of support and challenge based on their needs and interests.

Tier 1: Enrichment for All Students

  • In this tier, all students benefit from engaging, high-quality instruction enriched with opportunities to explore various disciplines and interests. We use universal screening and data-driven decision-making to identify areas of strength and provide differentiated instruction that challenges each student to reach their full potential.

Tier 2: Targeted Enrichment for Some Students

  • We offer targeted enrichment activities for students who show particular strengths or interests. These activities are designed to help students delve deeper into subjects they are passionate about, and small group settings provide the perfect environment for focused exploration and skill development.

Tier 3: Intensive Enrichment for a Few Students

  • Students with exceptional needs or talents receive intensive, individualized enrichment opportunities. This may include self-directed projects, advanced learning options, or participation in specialized programs and competitions. We aim to provide these students with the tools and support they need to excel in their areas of interest.
A Dynamic and Flexible Learning Environment
Our flexible and adaptable approach allows students to move between tiers as their interests and needs evolve. With a strong, consistent curriculum at the foundation, all students, whether in Tier 1, 2, or 3, experience a challenging and supportive educational environment.

Our enrichment program thrives on collaboration. Teachers, specialists, and support staff work together to create a culture of innovation where students are encouraged to take risks, think creatively, and pursue their passions. We also actively engage families as partners in their children’s educational journeys, ensuring a comprehensive support system.
